Indiana Hospital Association Annual Meeting
Hopefully, you were able to attend the annual Indiana Hospital Association Meeting, which occurred September 16-17-18 at the Indianapolis Downtown Marriott. The annual ACHE/IHA Breakfast was held on Thursday morning, September 17. Mark Dame, FACHE, Vice President of Risk Management and Insurance Services at Unity Physician Group in Bloomington, presented an update on the Indiana Health Executives' Network. Paul Lang, Director of Health Programs for the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University, then shared an update on the MHA Program there. Frank D. Byrne, MD, FACHE, a former ACHE Indiana Regent and a current ACHE Governor, who is currently the President of St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, delivered the keynote address at the breakfast. It was good to have seen Dr. Byrne return to Indiana for this event. Thanks to him for his time.
The ACHE Regent's Awards were presented at the annual dinner on the evening of Thursday, September 17. Honored for service to ACHE and the advancement of healthcare administration were Vincent C. Caponi, FACHE, CEO of St. Vincent Healthcare System in Indianapolis, and Jack M. Corey, FACHE, former President/CEO of DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn. Congratulations to both gentlemen on their ACHE Regent's Award, and many thanks to each of them for their service to ACHE through the years.
ACHE REGENT ELECTION
My tenure as your Regent will expire in March of 2010. As you know, the election for my replacement will soon be underway. Don't forget to vote, beginning October 1. As before, the vote will be conducted electronically.
There are two candidates whose names appear on the ballot this year. View their respective Statement of Interest and previous ACHE involvement by going to the Affiliates Only section of the ACHE Website; then click on Council of Regents Election and Declared Candidates.
It remains my pleasure to serve as your ACHE Regent. I truly believe in the Mission Statement and Code of Ethics of the American College of Healthcare Executives. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve.
CONCLUSION
There continue to be many new individuals in Indiana who have recently joined the ACHE. Welcome to each of you. Please do not hesitate to call upon me, anytime I may be of assistance.
